Tout comme Kroos, Rudy Fernández considère son arrivée au Real Madrid comme un tournant dans sa carrière et dans sa vie. « Venir au Real Madrid a été la meilleure décision que j’ai prise sur le plan sportif, sans aucun doute », déclare-t-il dans des propos relayés par Marca. L’ancien basketteur souligne l’exigence du club, mais surtout les valeurs humaines qu’il véhicule. Pour lui, évoluer au sein de la Casa Blanca, c’est avant tout faire partie d’une famille.
Son moteur principal a toujours été sa famille, et plus particulièrement son père. « Il m’a appris que si je voulais franchir ce cap, je devais tout donner, et c’est ce que j’ai fait. » Une mentalité qu’il a essayé de transmettre aux nouvelles générations. Il insiste également sur la responsabilité de porter ce maillot : « La clé, c’est de savoir gérer cette pression et de toujours tout donner sur le terrain. » Kroos et Fernández confirment que le Real Madrid est bien plus qu’un club : une institution qui marque les hommes, bien au-delà du terrain.
